NOTIFY ME WHEN IN STOCK

We, the children of primary 7/6 at Taynuilt Primary School in Scotland, wanted to communicate a message.

My design shows coral in the water with lots of plastic and micro fibres and some of the coral is floating about because a fishing boat has gone past with a net which has ripped up the coral. I think that the future will look like my design but I hope something will change.

In my design I used crayons to draw the coral and do the rubbings with sequins and stuck some on. I cut out some of my mono printing and stuck that on as microfibres. I used some net to print and used it as some of my microplastics.

My second design (back cover) shows lots of microfibres and plastics floating around and a jelly fish that is sinking to the bottom of the ocean because it has eaten too much plastic. There is also a whale which has eaten a lot of plastic and it is trying to swim to water where there is no plastic but since there is so much plastic in the sea that won’t ever happen.

In my second design I used crayons to do the microplastics. The print background it paper and I used seaweed to make the blue dots. I used mono printing to do the jelly fish and the whale. I used two different colours to see what it would look like and I think it worked. - Lily, P6, Taynuilt Primary.

Inspiration

This design was created during an art and science workshop as part of the ‘Our Plastic Oceans’ project run by Crùbag, in collaboration with Taynuilt Primary School, Renuka Ramanujam, & the Scottish Association of Marine Science (SAMS).

These sustainable, colourful and ocean-inspired notebooks are designed by children because they care and want to do more, they are such an inspiration! Each notebook is a bundle of joy and a conversation starter.
